Grant Cuts Have Been Reversed
Government reverses planned reductions, giving homeowners and the renewable sector long-term confidence.
Minister Says Ireland’s “Solar Revolution” Will Continue as Rooftop Solar Panel Grant Remains in Place.
The Government’s previous plan to gradually reduce the €1,800 rooftop solar grant by €300 each year has been reversed, with Minister for Climate, Environment and Energy, Darragh O’Brien, confirming that the full grant will remain unchanged. This decision marks a significant shift in policy and provides welcome certainty for homeowners considering solar PV in the months ahead.
Ciarán Kells, Chairperson of the Micro-Renewable Energy Foundation (MREF), which represents Ireland’s micro-generation sector, praised the move, stating: “This is a positive decision for homeowners up and down the country who are actively planning to invest in solar PV in the coming months.”
This decision is a major boost for Ireland’s renewable energy sector. By maintaining the full grant, the Government is removing financial barriers, accelerating household adoption, and sending a clear signal that micro-generation remains a national priority.
Support schemes like this stimulate industry growth, create green jobs, and help Ireland move more rapidly toward its climate targets.
